First visit, Just One Day List

Welcome to SAN ANTONIO.

Some visitors  are on their first visit, and have only one day.  This is a list to get started:

For first timers – There is so much to see and do, and I’ll get to that, but first, you really need to see:

The Alamo.  It’s on Alamo Plaza, and it’s pretty easy to locate, since the Plaza is on Alamo Drive which is a North to South street, just to the east of the San Antonio River.

The Hyatt Regency – From Alamo Plaza, you should be able to see the Hyatt facing you.  Go across Alamo Street, through the upper or lower lane, and into the Hyatt.  The architecture is superb.  After you go through the lobby, the lower level lets you out to the River Walk.  This is the most used area of the River Walk, lots of people, restaurants and stores.

My #1 Food recommendation is Acenar.  It is located in the Valencia Hotel,  at the intersection of Houston St. with the main part of the River.
* The food is delicious and spicy, but not so beany and cheesy (I’ll make great TexMex recommendations elsewhere).
* The location is at a beautiful part of the River, but less crowded than the real Riverwalk.
* Meals are reasonably priced, especially at Lunch.

#1 Neighborhood (oh, but there are other great neighborhoods.
King William District – Great homes from the 1880’s with excellent architecture.

#1 Local Bar
Drink Texas, corner of Market and Navarro.
